January 2024 Inspirations

Hello and Happy Monday friends. How is it 2024 already.

I don’t know about you, but I started off my year with my partner in Banff, and we did all the winter-y things while also making sure to be slow and intentional with our time. NYE tends to be a lot of rushing around, trying to meet up with people, trying to make sure that it’s perfect, and I loved spending the day just having a slow day, doing the things we love.

I also spent a couple hours putting together my vision for 2024, putting together a monthly look and then a year-long look at what I wanted to bring into my life and what I wanted to channel. I created one for January to start, with my inspo board is above, but here are the things I pulled from it:

  1. Good Food and Healthy Greens: I’m notorious for neglecting the vegetables in my day to day, so Jan 1, we hit the grocery store and made sure that there are lots of things in the fridge so I can either grab a carrot when I’m feeling snack-y or I can easily make myself something resembling a salad instead of just grabbing cheese and crackers.

  2. Buy Fresh Flowers: You don’t need a partner to buy you flowers, you can go out and buy them yourself. I love to stop in at my local farmers market and grab a bunch of carnations, or seasonal flowers from my favourite stall on Friday afternoons so I can enjoy it all weekend long and into the next week.

  3. Work on my bedrooms: I’ve been redoing my bedrooms in this house, most excitingly, I’m planning on painting the spare room with a beautiful dark green. I would really love to get this started this month.

  4. Pottery: I’m back at it this month! After almost a year off to receover from hip surgery, I’m starting 8 weeks of pottery again. I unfortunately have to miss two classes, but I’m grateful that they allow you to make up the time and come in for as many practice hours as you’d like. I cannot wait.

  5. Capsule Wardrobe: I need to go through my clothes again, and just in time for the consignment shops to start taking spring drop-offs. My best friend convinced me to get basics last year, and it changed my wardrobe for the better. Now I just need to find the strength to purge some things out of my closet. I wouldn’t mind creating a capsule wardrobe per month, and get in the hang of creating a wardrobe that fits with the season. I’ve found its too difficult to make a complete capsule wardrobe as my style and colours change with the seasons.

  6. Watercolour: Alan and I learned some new watercolour techniques last year when we took a class together. I loved working with ink, and I just got a bottle of India Ink for Christmas, so it’s time to break out the watercolour paper and ink.

  7. Baths: I moved into my townhouse a year and a bit ago. And I have yet to have a bath in my upstairs bath. Enough said.

  8. Yoga: I’m back into my weekly yoga practice, and I’m here to stay. Yoga has brought so much to my life, and finding the right teacher was integral to that. My favourite teacher turned into my friend, and now business partner with our new project called Kinship Community.

  9. Parties with Friends: I started hosting things again towards the end of the year and I love having chats with friends. I want to try and plan a couple more evenings to chat with friends and drink prosecco, or talk about our favourite books.

  10. Bows: I can’t tell you the number of bows I own, and have owned for ages, and have rarely owned. I want to commit to trying to wear a bow at least once when going out for dinner or out for drinks. I have these beautiful velvet bows with an unfinished hem that deserve to be worn.

  11. Glittery Shirts and Dresses: February feels like the right time for red and pink and so January feels like the last of the wintery glittery time of year. I just bought myself a 90’s type maxi dress thats glittery that needs to be worn at least two more times this season.

I’ll keep creating these for each month and provide the mobile background for your phone if it inspires you too!

Love,

-E
