Introduction to Hygge

I picked up this delightful book the other day on living the Hygge lifestyle. It interested me because I am all about the cozy lifestyle. I used to enjoy picking up a good book, cozying up with a blanket nest and a huge cup of tea and just reading for awhile. I wanted to get back into the cozy lifestyle, especially with the winter coming in full force. But Hygge is more than just a cozy lifestyle. Hygge (pronounced hue-guh) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special. It isn't just describing the warmth of inside, but also the enjoyment of outdoor activities to then go inside and appreciate the warmth. It's not a strict set of guidelines, but instead suggestions on how to alter your everyday to be more present and enjoy the little things. It's more of a feeling that is generated from these types of experiences.

The book I picked up had a few suggestions for ways to live Hygge in your living space, your food, your music, your workspace and your dealings with friends. I'll post a few suggestions over the next month on how to live the Hygge lifestyle in all aspects of your life for anyone interested to learn more.

Pick up a Hygge book and follow along with me!
